Seabreeze

RX Architects

Sea Breeze is located on Camber Sands beach in East Sussex, directly backing on to the natural sand dunes behind and with outstanding views across the beach and English Channel to the south. The site is unique in that it is one of only a handful of properties in the region which are only accessed by driving along the beach making the construction extremely challenging. The designs are focused on creating a robust building to cope with the extreme weather conditions, with high winds, moving sand and salt air. The windows have been designed to sit flush with the external façade, to avoid creating ledges on which sand can build and effect the building. There are also no gutters or conventional details where sand and salt could create issues to the building.

Charterhouse School, Surrey

Design Engine Architects

Sitting within a context of Gothic and Neo Gothic buildings the new Maths and Science department building provides the school located in Godalming, Surrey with state of the art facilities to promote new teaching methods. Architecturally the building nods to the context within which it sits through materials, scale and proportion. The dominant chimneys ventilate the labs below whilst providing a focal point from the entrance to the school. Raico Therm+ profiles were used in the design and fabrication of the windows and structural glazing, the brise soleil panels we detailed and manufactured with bespoke specifications.

The building was awarded an RIBA South East Award 2019,
shortlisted for RICS Award 2019.

Deck House, Kent

Theis + Khan Architects

Located in the High Weald AONB the project consisted of refurbishing an existing house with the addition of a guest and garage accommodation within a barn. Restricted planning conditions within the area influenced the size of the windows, doors and materials that were used.

The two gable windows in the barn are full height flush glazing with inset solid opening vents echoing barn loft doors. The windows of the main living area within the house creates a panoramic view across the descending fields below.
